Potential Chelsea Boss Could Hand Lukaku Second Chance

Potential incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino might just hand Inter marksman Romelu Lukaku a lifeline if the Belgian ends up leaving the Meazza. The Belgian forward has been in commendable form in recent weeks, helping the Nerazzurri secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and most recently bagging the match-winning brace against Empoli.

His future is still up in the air though, with Inter plans sketched for the 2023/24 season excluding Lukaku upfront. His current loan deal expires at the end of the season, but despite his recent from, the Nerazzurri are unimpressed to stick onto him. One of the reasons why is because the club wants to reduce its payroll.

However, according to The Telegraph, the striker could have another chance at Chelsea with the backing of Pochettino at Stamford Bridge. The 29-year-old signed with the Blues two years ago, but returned to Milan at the start of the current campaign after a dismal stay in London.

Ex-Tottenham coach Pochettino is currently in talks with Todd Boehly to become the next Chelsea manager, and Lukaku might just be handed a lifeline to revive his career in the Premier League.

The Nerazzurri could however change their mind if Lukaku keeps up with his current form and perhaps ends with a Champions League winners’ medal.
