Prandelli Urges Roma to Back Mourinho in the Transfer Market

Former Italy national team manager Cesare Prandelli believes Jose Mourinho and Roma can punch above their weight, but only by signing the right players in the summer transfer window. The Giallorossi added a few high-profile names to their squad, including Paulo Dybala, Andrea Belotti, and Georginio Wijnaldum. Yet, they are struggling to break into the top four for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Prandelli spoke to Radio Anch’io Sport (via LaLazioSiamoNoi) in an exclusive interview and disclosed what would help Mourinho in bettering the quality of the squad around him.

“It’s an excellent team, but on a technical level there are only starters. When Mourinho makes substitutions, the team loses its character.  On a technical level, it’s not up to par with the other great teams.”

Nonetheless, Prandelli thinks the Special One is on the right path.

“In my opinion, Mourinho he’s doing a miracle in taking all the team’s problems and limitations on his shoulders. He’s brilliant in managing relationships and in communication, but if Roma manage to find three important players indicated by Mourinho next year, they’ll fight for the Scudetto”.

Mourinho’s Roma failed to overtake Milan and jump into the top four, as they fell to a thrilling 4-3 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico.
