Borussia Dortmund are entertaining the possibility of letting Manuel Akanji depart before the end of the window but, despite their long-standing interest, Inter aren’t the favorites to land him. They might not even be in contention considering their difficulties in the transfer market.
As per Corriere dello Sport, Leicester City have come forward to sign the Swiss defender to replace Wesley Fofana. On the other hand, while the German side could agree to an initial loan, they have set a €20M price tag for their misfit. Instead, Manchester City have gotten close to his valuation, The Athletic reports.
While Inter can’t sign Akanji right now, they are hoping he stays put, so they can try to add him on a free in 2023, SportMediaset reports. They have kept in touch with his entourage to set up his arrival with such method.

Dortmund director Sebastien Kehl discussed the future of the center-back to Sky Sports Deutschland.
“He’s an excellent player and a good guy. However, based on his statements and his decision not to extend his contract with us, we are going with different plans. I think something will happen in the next few days. The fact that his future still hangs in the balance isn’t ideal. We still have until Thursday to sort it, but it would be better to do it earlier to have time to iron everything out.”
