PSG Ahead of Premier League Competition for Christian Eriksen

Inter are working to find a new home for Christian Eriksen in January and the most concrete option at this point is PSG. The talks between the two clubs concerning a possible swap with Leandro Paredes have ramped up in the last few days, despite still being at their early stages, Gazzetta dello Sport reported.

The former Tottenham star has featured just 374 minutes in 14 seasonal appearances and is poised to play even less now that Stefano Sensi is back and healthy. Manchester United and Arsenal have shown some interest as well, but the negotiation with the French club is more advanced. The outlet added that the Beneamata pursued Paredes in the summer, but a trade with Marcelo Brozovic fell through. The 26-year-old Argentinian international is slated to leave PSG anyway and the wages of the two players are similar, which facilitates the negotiation.

As for the other outcast Radja Nainggolan instead, a return to Cagliari is still the most likely scenario, however the two teams will have to find a way to make it work because the Sardinians wanted him on a free transfer in October, while the Nerazzurri would prefer some sort of compensation.

Our view

Eriksen has become a distressed asset at this point, so Inter might as well pull the trigger on the proposed swap with Paredes, which would give them a back-up for Brozovic, somebody they currently do not have in the roster.
