PSG Make Enquiry About Juventus Misfit Adrien Rabiot

Out-of-favor Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot could reportedly make a shock return to Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season. According to Calciomercato, the Frenchman is not a popular figure in Turin and may hit the road next summer, with PSG already making contacts with his entourage.

Rabiot swapped the Parc des Princes for Juventus in summer 2019 as one of Europe’s most exciting midfield prospects. But things have not gone his way at the Allianz Stadium. The 27-year-old has never lived up to his potential in Serie A, turning into a bit-part player in the Bianconeri system over the past couple of seasons.

With Rabiot’s contract running out in June 2023, Juventus look reluctant to offer him a new deal. Indeed, the player’s hefty €7.5m net per season wages have been deemed excessive by the club hierarchy, especially compared to his performances under under-fire manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Since Juventus have no intention of extending Rabiot’s deal and the player remains equally keen to get his career back on track elsewhere, the summer break-up seems inevitable. Manchester United tried to take the left-footed midfielder to the Premier League in the summer. Yet despite Man Utd launching a significant €20m bid, the Frenchman turned down the move.

It’s said that Rabiot’s mother-agent Veronique played a big part in her son’s decision to throw away the possibility of joining the Old Trafford outfit. The player has no future at Juventus either. Aware of that, reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG have established contacts with his mother to discuss a potential reunion.

Rabiot enjoyed a rise to prominence in Paris and may be enthusiastic about rejoining Les Parisiens to rekindle his faltering career. But after signing the likes of Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz late in the summer, PSG may reconsider the idea of bringing the prodigal son home.
