PSG Prodigy Mendes Previews Clash Against ‘Great Team’ Juventus

New Paris Saint-Germain signing Nuno Mendes, who was signed from Sporting CP in the summer transfer window following his loan spell, has taken note of the challenge Juventus will present in the UEFA Champions League group day opener.

The encounter against the Bianconeri will be the Portuguese prodigy’s ninth appearance in the continental competition, as he will hope to play an important role in what might be his side’s first-ever victory against the visitors in nine meetings.

Speaking to the press (via Il Bianconero), Mendes discussed the heavyweight clash with Juventus.

“It is normal for expectations on us to be high, but we play against a great team. Everyone has been waiting for this match for days.”

He then spoke of PSG’s fitness ahead of the showdown at Parc des Princes.

“We will try to bring the victory home especially for our fans. The team is in excellent shape. We don’t have time to relax checking the game that await us. If we ever slow down, it could be difficult.”

Juventus haven’t faced the French champions since the 1996 UEFA Super Cup, winning 9-2 on aggregate over two legs back then.
