PSG Reject Roma Initial Offer for Out-of-Favor Star

PSG rebuffed the opening offer by Roma for Renato Sanches, and the player might not be so keen on the destination either. The Giallorossi explored a loan with option to buy, but the Ligue 1 powerhouse prefers more definitive formulas, La Repubblica informs.

The Italian club proposed €1M as the initial fee and €12M to redeem the midfielder in a year. The counterparty spent €15M to acquire him from Lille last summer. While the two sides might not be that far apart price tag-wise, the French one demanded at least an obligation to purchase in 2024.

Roma have been reluctant to agree to that kind of condition for any of their signings so far and might be forced to abandon the Renato Sanches chase. Moreover, the player isn’t pressing to join them. According to RMCSport, he’d like to leave to feature more regularly, but he wishes to join an outfit that plays in the Champions League.

The Giallorossi have faced the same problem regarding Marcel Sabitzer, whom Bayern Munich would let go only permanently. They could pursue Leandro Paredes or a reunion with Georginio Wijnaldum next.

Our Take on Roma and Renato Sanches

They need a stroke of luck to find a high-caliber midfielder without a budget. While they have been fixating on such a role as of late, signing a new striker should be a bigger priority.
