Kylian Mbappé communicated his decision to leave at the end of the season to PSG yesterday. He’ll depart as his contract runs out, but the team will be well-armed with cash considering how much they’ll save.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the French champions plot to target the top Serie A aces to replace their own. Rafael Leao, Victor Osimhen, and Lautaro Martinez are on their wish list.
PSG plot to spend €300M to substitute for Mbappé. His departure will open up €200M given his wealthy salary and the chunk of a gigantic fidelity bonus the parties agreed upon in 2021 that the side will no longer need to pay. The terms of his exit will be negotiated in the coming weeks.
Director Luis Campos has a previous relationship with both Osimhen and Leao, who played at Lille. The former has a €130M release clause, while the latter a €170M one. The Napoli star has pretty much announced he’ll leave, but he’d prefer the Premier League, so he’ll have to be convinced.
Milan would ask for €100/120M if contacted. The French outfit already has a prodigy in Leao’s position, Bradley Barcola, and wants to give him a starring role. Inter are negotiating a new deal with Martinez and value him €150M.
Our Take on PSG and Mbappé
They have routinely raided Serie A, so it’s likely to happen again. Osimhen is clearly the most gettable, but nobody is truly untouchable when you get to certain numbers.
