Adrien Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, hit back at Thiago Motta after the Italian manager closed the door for her son’s return to Juventus. During an interview with L’Equipe, she claimed the French midfielder has never considered a reunion with the Bianconeri an option.
“There is no need to close the door, returning to Juventus was not an option taken into consideration,” Veronique said, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. “When we make decisions, we take responsibility for them.“
Motta wasn’t happy about the manner in which Rabiot left Juventus. Speaking to the press in the build-up to his side’s 0-0 draw against Empoli, the ex-Bologna coach reproached the 29-year-old star for ‘not calling him’ after turning down the club’s contract offer in June.
Despite receiving a lucrative bid to pledge his future to the Allianz Stadium, Rabiot shockingly decided to leave Juventus at the end of last season. However, he failed to find a new club during the summer transfer window due to his insane wage requests.
As a result, a potential return to Juventus has emerged as a possibility for the former Paris Saint-Germain playmaker. But, the breakup is definite as neither party wants to have anything with the other anymore. Juve’s refusal to welcome Rabiot back isn’t surprising.
Juventus heavily reinforced their midfield in the summer with the arrivals of Teun Koopmeiners, Khephren Thuram, and Douglas Luiz. As for Rabiot, his search for a new club continues. Yet, he’ll likely have to settle for a move to Saudi Arabia unless he drops his salary demands.
