Rafael Leao Backed to Stay at Milan Amid PSG Talks

Reputed journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is adamant Rafael Leao sees his future at Milan despite ranking high on Paris Saint-Germain’s list of targets. Les Parisiens have identified the 24-year-old winger as a perfect candidate to fill Kylian Mbappe’s shoes at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe is reportedly on the cusp of completing his long-awaited switch to Real Madrid. If everything goes to plan, PSG will have a massive gap to fill, and they’ve set their sights on the Milan talisman. Leao signed a contract extension last year, but it will not deter the Ligue 1 colossi from tabling a monstrous bid to lure him away from San Siro.

There’s no doubt Milan will use every tool at their disposal to keep hold of their superstar forward. After a relatively sluggish start to the season, Leao has returned to his best, tallying 12 goals and 11 assists in Serie A to help Rossoneri leapfrog Juventus into second and close the gap on pacesetters Inter to 11 points.

Leao has been central to Stefano Pioli’s set-up despite the arrivals of Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukuweze, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek last summer. He has enjoyed his game of late and seems hellbent on staying at Milan, at least according to Di Marzio.

Leao seems very happy to be at Milan, I see him convinced of the project, of the shirt he wears and of representing it at its best, he is well integrated into the environment and the city,” he said, as quoted by MilanNews.

In this sport, it is easy to realize when after a few years certain players, they make you perceive that will and desire for a change of scenery, in Leao, I see a lot of happiness in being at Milan.
