Ranocchia Exit to Empoli Sets Stage for Baldanzi Assault

Empoli have finalized the transfer of Italy U21 midfielder Filippo Ranocchia from Juventus, with the midfielder set for another loan stint away from Turin in order to garner first-team experience. Ranocchia spent last campaign on loan at Monza, before which he starred for Vicenza Calcio in Serie B. With his departure, the Bianconeri are eyeing to lure Tommasso Baldanzi in return, owing to the good relationship between the managements.

As per Sky Italia (via Tuttomercatoweb), the deal for Ranocchia was set up last week, and he will soon join Paolo Zanetti’s Gli Azzurri for the preseason. He will sign the loan contract, which involves an obligation to buy from Empoli’s end for €5.5M. But the Old Lady will have the upper hand, having set a buyback clause at €7M.

Juventus want to take advantage of the recently concluded transfer and bring Baldanzi to the Allianz Stadium, just days after missing out on now-Fiorentina wingback Fabiano Parisi.

According to Tuttosport (via VoceGiallorossa), the Tuscans expect an offer circa the €15M mark to buy the player outright. However, the Bianconeri’s intention would be to send Baldanzi on loan back to Empoli for one campaign to guarantee continuity.
