Ranocchia Wishes Skriniar Came to Terms with Inter

Andrea Ranocchia is keeping up with all things Inter after his retirement and weighed in on their season, Milan Skriniar, and more in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Napoli are in a league of their own, as they lost for the first time in January. There’s no question that they are the favorites. However, Juventus came back and will compete until the end. There are many matches left, and it’s still possible to close a ten-point gap. Simone Inzaghi has a really strong squad at his disposal. They are lacking good results in the head-to-head matches. In addition, they had to cope with Romelu Lukaku and Marcelo Brozovic’s injuries. I think they can win the Coppa Italia since it’s a shorter competition.”

“I wish the Belgian found his best shape. He’s been on the mend for a long time, and I know how hard it is to return afterward. His qualities are undeniable, but they need to be patient. He’s never been fit since August. You find rhythm only by playing.”

Ranocchia weighed in on Skriniar and the lengthy negotiation with Inter.

“I would never offer advice on such matter, as everybody is free to make choices they consider opportune. As a fan, I wished he re-upped because I am fond of him and he did great things with this jersey. I’ve always put pen to paper close to the end of my contract, but I’ve aware that our situations aren’t comparable. He’s already one of the best in the world and still has some upside.”

The defender addressed tonight’s clash between Napoli and Juventus.

“It’s a key game. The season is still long, but should the Azzurri prevail…”
