RB Leizpig Exec Claims Milan Target Nkunku Will Stay

Milan have been lightly attached to Christopher Nkunku in recent days. The potential Investcorp takeover will likely give them a larger transfer market budget. The Rossoneri will try to bring in a top striker since they have had some issues scoring down the stretch.

On the other hand, RB Leipzig Oliver Mintzlaff told ARD and Sky Germany (via Sportschau) that the attacker will not depart in the summer: “I have said it multiple times. Nobody is untouchable, but he will still be with us last season. He was already one of our best players in the first half of the season, and he has taken an extra step in his growth under Domenico Tedesco. He will continue to do so in 2022-2023.”

It remains to be seen whether that will indeed hold true. Nkunku will attract plenty of rich offers, and Milan would have to face several deep-pocketed foes if they went after him. The 24-year-old has had an extraordinary campaign, tallying 30 goals and 20 assists in 45 appearances.

The Rossoneri plan to make an addition to the role and have expressed interest in Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastian Haller. Inter are pursuing the duo as well. On top of Nkunku, Milan have been linked to another sensational swoop, as the possible new owners have set their sight on Romelu Lukaku, Goal reports. The Belgian star is unhappy at Chelsea and could bolt in the summer. It would take a massive investment to acquire him, though. Moreover, he often manifested his attachment to their crosstown rivals.
