Real Madrid and Barcelona Join the Fray for Milan Ace on Expiring Deal

The battle to sign Franck Kessié is heating up. The contract of the midfielder expires in June 2022. Milan are having major troubles reaching an agreement to extend it. PSG and Liverpool were tipped to be the early frontrunners in case he did leave for free. But Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping a watchful eye on the situation too, AS reports.

Both Spanish giants relied on Bosman moves in the recent window. The Catalans added Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Eric Garcia in this fashion. The Galacticos snatched David Alaba away from Bayern Munich. The two sides are also pursuing Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, who is also on Juventus’ radar.

George Atangana, the agent of Kessié, confirmed they have an official offer from Milan on the table. However, he contested the figures that have been circulating. The rumors suggested the midfielder was asking for a €8M salary, way above the proposal by the club.

According to the Spanish outlet, Barcelona could even make an attempt in January if the opportunity presents itself. PSG were mulling the same move if Milan opened to such solution. The Rossoneri held firm in the negotiations with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu last season. However, they ended up losing them for nothing.

They might have a different approach with the Ivorian international. If the talks did not progress enough before January, they could decide to cash in on him to avoid another total loss. At this stage, it is unclear how much the sale could fetch given the unfavorable circumstances.
