Real Madrid in Pole Position to Beat Juventus for Fresneda

Real Valladolid talent Ivan Fresneda is inching closer to the exit door, having garnered interested from Europe’s cream of the crop, including Juventus. The Bianconeri are eager to add a young fullback to their squad, but are threatened by the presence of other top dogs in the race for his signature

As per Tuttomercatoweb (via TuttoJuve), Real Madrid are in pole position to lure their former youth product, who left them a couple of years ago. With Dani Carvajal increasingly under scrutiny for his performances and the lack of back-ups in the squad, Fresneda is being targeted by Los Blancos.

Contrasting reports have however pointed fingers towards London, where Fresneda’s agent was spotted earlier – igniting links with Premier League leaders Arsenal

Real Valladolid chief David Espinar echoed the growing interest in the highly-rated defender, for who interested suitors will have to shell out at least €15M.

“No firm offer has arrived for Fresneda, but there is a lot of interest. The club has set a squad cost limit in the summer. We are going to try to reinforce the squad and we are aware that there are players who will leave. We don’t have to sell any player to survive, but, in the football industry, everyone has to do it. It serves to strengthen squads and gives opportunities to people who want to improve or seek another destination,” he said in a press conference earlier in the week (via Metro).

A native of Madrid, Fresneda was initially brought up through the ranks of La Fabrica – Real Madrid’s youth academy – before going on to join Valladolid in 2020.

Borussia Dortmund, who sent scouts to watch him play against Atletico Madrid, and Newcastle United have also been linked with the Spanish U19 international.
