Real Madrid youth product Victor Chust, who spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Cadiz, has impressed suitors from Spain and Italy, including Lazio. The defensive talent starred 29 times for the club, racking up more than 2,200 minutes in total and helping his side just edge Granada and Levante into 17th place, avoiding relegation.
The defender is keen on etching a future at his boyhood club, but immediate playing opportunities in the white shirt are scarce and unlikely for the 22-year-old. Los Blancos would rather see the talented center-back develop and gain experience elsewhere before potentially heading back to the Spanish capital.
As per reports emerging from Italy and Spain (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazio are keeping close tabs on Chust for a summer move. The Biancocelesti are expected to make worthwhile moves in the transfer market, with a special eye on reinforcing the defense. The Spanish U21 international is viewed as a replacement for the departing Luiz Felipe.
While Alessio Romagnoli and Nicolò Casale remain strong in contention for a transfer to the Italian capital, the Spaniard seems an easier target considering the fact that the latter two occupy more of the spotlight. The starlet has already made his debut for Madrid’s first team in the 2020-21 season, garnering two caps in total before he was shipped away.
The chance to play at Lazio would mean more game time for Chust, especially since they are expected to fight on all fronts, including the UEFA Europa League, next season. A loan move with an option to buy, and a recompra, could fit the bill.
