Real Madrid are in the hunt for a new defender after losing Eder Militao to a massive knee injury and have earmarked two Roma players: Mario Hermoso and Evan N’Dicka. Los Blancos are unlikely to make a splash in January, Marca reports (via Calciomercato).
The former Atleti stalwart has struggled to find his footing in Italy following a late arrival. He spent the summer as a free agent and signed in early September. He hasn’t been a regular, starting just four times in nine appearances, mostly in the Europa League. The veteran sat out the last three games due to a muscular injury.
The Giallorossi squad could be in flux following another coaching change. Plus, it’s not so sure director Florent Ghisolfi will stay. Luring Hermoso probably wouldn’t be too expensive given his age and because he joined Roma on a free, while Real Madrid would have to invest to acquire N’Dicka, Cahiers du Foot informs.
The 25-year-old has been a staple of the formation. He has made the leap compared to previous seasons, offering solid performances no matter who’s on the bench. He’s valued at around €25M.
According to Corriere della Sera (via Tuttomercatoweb), Hermoso and Mats Hummels were ready to ask out if Ivan Juric didn’t get the ax, but the situation could change now.
Our Take on Roma, Real Madrid, Hermoso, and N’Dicka
Ranieri will likely fluctuate between a three and a four-man defense, probably a more standard one with Angelino on the bench, giving minutes to everybody and keeping them happy. The Giallorossi have no reason to sell the Ivorian international if not for a super-duper offer.
