Real Madrid Star Hands Juventus Major Transfer Boost

Juventus’ pursuit of Real Madrid outcast Marco Asensio has received a massive boost as the player reportedly looks to leave Spain. According to Catalan news outlet El Nacional, the highly-rated winger is keen to leave the Spanish capital, with the Bianconeri credited with an interest.

Despite being regarded as the future leader of Real Madrid, Asensio has tumbled down the pecking order on the back of a long-term knee injury. The 25-year-old is seemingly reluctant to play second fiddle to anyone and could hand in a transfer request in the January transfer window.

His current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu is due to expire in summer 2023, and there’s been no breakthrough in extension talks. Asensio has returned to the fold under Carlo Ancelotti following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. But he has only racked up eight La Liga starts to date.

With Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, and Eden Hazard all ahead of him in the pecking order, Asensio looks set to bring his seven-year spell in Madrid to an end. Several European sides, including Liverpool, have shown interest in the left-footed star. Yet, his future could be lying in Serie A.

Juventus are on the hunt for a new winger, particularly in light of the ongoing saga involving the future of Dejan Kulusevski. In addition to the Swede, Federico Bernardeschi also looks to be on his way out of the Allianz Stadium. The Bianconeri chiefs have run out of patience for the Italian following a couple of underwhelming seasons.

Therefore, the record-time Serie A champions have added Asensio to their shopping list. Despite his household status, he could be available on a cut-price deal, given his current contractual situation in Madrid and the abovementioned lack of game time.
