Asensio “Unhappy” with Milan Offer, Picks Agent Jorge Mendes

Milan target Marco Asensio has experienced somewhat of a mixed season at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, jumping in and out of the starting eleven time and again due to inconsistent performances and the presence of other valuable talents at the club. With his Los Blancos contract set to expire at the end of next season, Asensio is at a crossroads in his career, and now has a chance to represent another European giant.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Asensio is not impressed by an ‘undervalued’ offer of €5m net per season by Milan. He wants a higher pay package that would rake him €7-8m per year, but it is uncertain whether the Rossoneri are willing to meet the Mallorca-born winger’s demands.

However, with the imminent takeover by Bahraini outfit InvestCorp could change things at San Siro and Milan might just be able to afford the 26-year-old’s services.

Moreover, as reported by Calciomercato, Asensio’s change of agent could warrant a transfer to the Premier League instead, as new representative Jorge Mendes is reportedly pushing a transfer to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly influential Portuguese agent, who represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Leao, Renato Sanches, Joao Felix and also coach Jose Mourinho, is said to be interested in marking up a deal with Conte’s team.

North London rivals Arsenal have already offered a deal for Asensio, but Spurs’ emergence as suitors spices things up as the forward enters the final year of his six-year contract.

Asensio is yet to finalize the decision on his future, but Real Madrid haven’t yet given up on the chance to offer him a contract extension, presenting an improved offer with the hopes of convincing the Spaniard to stay. Additionally, the all-but-confirmed transfer of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain is bound to further minimize Asensio’s presence in the record European champions’ starting eleven.
