Reason Behind Milan’s Failed Kvaratskhelia Deal Revealed

Highly-rated Georgia left winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia almost joined Milan recently during the summer window but the Rossoneri management didn’t make the first move by offering a deal. The reason for this has now been revealed.

According to Calciomercato.com, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara did not step forward for negotiations as they believed Rubin Kazan’s asking price of €20m was too high for the talented playmaker.

Former Georgian Rossoneri defender Kakha Kaladze emerged as an important figure in the deal as he made attempts to assist the youngster to move to Milan, where he himself spent a decade from 2000 to 2010.

He is currently valued at €18m, according to transfermarkt, and his contract in Russia expires in June 2024.

The left footed prodigy has enjoyed breakthrough seasons at Kazan, most recently scoring 4 goals in 22 appearances for the Russian club in 2020/21.

Milan will hope to get him in the next window, either on loan or a permanent transfer, amid interest from other top clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and fellow Italians Juventus.
