Retegui Finds New Suitor in Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa

As Genoa prepare to reinforce the squad ahead of their return to Serie A, Alberto Gilardino is looking to sign a young striker to boost the frontline. And the target in the Grifone radar is no low-profile forward. The suitor’s list is gradually piling up for budding Italy starlet Mario Retegui, and Genoa has emerged as a realistic destination.

As per Sky Italia, Genoa are in line to meet with the the Italy national team striker’s entourage before starting any negotiations with Boca Juniors. Retegui wishes to move to Italy this summer, having just culminated a successful loan spell in Argentina with Tigre.

Retegui is the subject of great transfer interest from some of the biggest teams in Italy, including Milan, Inter, Lazio, Atalanta and Udinese. However, it is not just burgeoning interest from within the peninsula, with European giants Atletico Madrid and Bundesliga duo Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt also in the fray.

Retegui, who is the Argentine Primera Liga top scorer, is naturally on the wish list of some of the top teams in the continent, and Genoa might prove to be the stepping stone in his career.

Milan forward Lorenzo Colombo is on the radar of Genoa after an impressive loan stint at Lecce, as a direct alternative to Retegui.
