REVEALED: How Juventus Almost Snatched Inter-Bound Lukaku in 2019

An astonishing detail has been revealed as to how Juventus tried luring a certain Manchester United striker, who went on to claim the Scudetto title with Inter in 2020/21.

Romelu Lukaku could have been a Juventus striker in 2019, when he was still with the Red Devils, as revealed by Calciomercato. The Bianconeri had reportedly shortlisted him as one of their top transfer targets by including Argentine forward Paulo Dybala in exchange for his services.

At the time, Dybala was also set to leave and Manchester United seemed interested in the former Palermo prodigy. However, he rejected plans to be included as part of a swap deal and insisted on remaining in Turin.

Antonio Conte’s Inter successfully managed to edge out Juventus and lure the Belgian powerhouse, who was impeccable during his two-season stint in Nerazzurri colours, leading them to their first Serie A title in over a decade.

Dybala on the other hand, has still not renewed his contract deal with Juventus which is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Lukaku is now Chelsea’s main striker after his mega-money move back to London.
