Renowned Italian football news website Tuttomercatoweb recently held a poll for Serie A fans, asking their opinion on favourites to win the Scudetto at the end of the season. The results that emerged from the survey are nothing less than surprising, partially at least.
According to the results, Inter are still the big favorites for the coveted Scudetto title and they are backed by a whopping 27% of votes to retain the title in the blue and black side of Milan.
The Nerazzurri are followed by a surprise team in Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio, who stunningly make the list with 18% of readers backing them to win only their third ever Serie A championship.
The Biancocelesti are closely tailed by Milan, Juventus and Roma by a recurrent two percent of voters – all realistic contenders to clinch the titles themselves.
The list is completed with the presence of Napoli, followed by Atalanta in the end.
All the seven aforementioned clubs are contenders in their own right, but some do possess a pedigree over the others.
With only a handful of matchdays having been played, it remains to be seen who emerges victorious in the end.
