Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille Eye Highly-Rated Inter Talent

Inter Milan have a varied cohort of young talent in the mix, and one of them is Argentina international Valentin Carboni. At just 19, Carboni already has three appearances for the Albiceleste, and is now garnering attention across Italy and Europe.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Olympique de Marseille, led by ex-Brighton and Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi, are on the hunt for Carboni’s signature. The teenage playmaker is said to have impressed the Marseille management with his performances at Monza, where he spent the season before on loan.

Inter reportedly have no intention of selling Carboni on a permanent basis, but instead prefer to see him develop elsewhere before recalling him to the Nerazzurri camp. He is contracted with Inter for four more years, until the summer of 2028.

Atalanta, Lazio and Fiorentina are also closely monitoring the development of the Argentine prodigy, whose versatility in the final-third has impressed more than most. The teenager made 31 appearances for Inter last campaign, scoring two and assisting four in the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto-winning journey.

Our Take on Carboni

Valued at €15M, according to transfermarkt, Carboni is not unattainable for any decent team from the top five leagues. He has been developing consistently at Inter under Simone Inzaghi and staying at the Meazza would perhaps be the most productive decision, although it remains to be seen if he is a concrete member of Inzaghi’s plans for the future.
