Roma About to Complete Signing of Top Midfield Target

Roma are reportedly closing the gap between supply and demand as Rennes ace Enzo Le Fee edges closer to joining the Giallorossi. According to Corriere dello Sport, the 24-year-old is on the verge of completing his move to the Stadio Olimpico.

Despite seeing their opening bid worth €15 million turned down by Rennes, Roma haven’t lost hope of signing the former Lorient midfielder. Buoyed by receiving the player’s go-ahead to close the deal with the Ligue 1 outfit, Daniele De Rossi’s men have grown confident of getting an agreement over the line.

Per the same report, Roma and Rennes will hold a crunch meeting on Monday. The club’s director, Florent Ghisofli, hopes to wrap up the deal at the start of next week. After parting with €20m to land Le Fee last summer, the French giants are unwilling to go below that threshold to sanction his move to Roma.

But with the player’s consent in the bag, Roma bid to close the operation on favorable terms. The former France youth international has agreed to a five-year contract in the Italian capital worth approximately €2.5m per season.

Le Fee’s relatively brief stint at Rennes hasn’t gone to plan. His misunderstandings with manager Julien Stephan have derailed his career at Roazhon Park. Therefore, he’s keen for a fresh start, with Roma ready to come to the Frenchman’s rescue after deciding against renewing Renato Sanches’ loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

Though this isn’t a done deal yet, there’s a feeling Roma will soon announce Le Fee as a new Giallorossi.
