Roma ace Stephan El Shaarawy insists the Giallorossi would’ve changed their attitude regardless of Daniele De Rossi’s sacking. Ivan Juric inspired his new side to a crucial 3-0 home victory against Serie A surprise package Udinese.
Days after parting with their icon, Roma got off the mark in Serie A with a thumping home triumph against the Friulians. Artem Dovbyk, Paulo Dybala, and Tomasso Baldanzi were on the scoresheet as Juric emerged victorious on his touchline debut.
Roma dominated on the pitch en route to a morale-boosting win. However, angry fans in the stands couldn’t care less about on-field success as they could not accept the club’s decision to show De Rossi the door.
El Shaarawy understands supporters’ frustration. But he insists the Roma players hold ‘no responsibility’ for De Rossi’s dismissal.
“We picked up three points and that is the most important thing,” he told DAZN, as relayed by Pagine Romaniste. “The results have not been good so far and once again, the coach was made to pay for that.
“We understand the disappointment of the fans, we know what Daniele means to everyone, but we players only have responsibility for the results and not everything else. It was important to win, we have to build from here,” the Roma winger continued.
“We would’ve changed our attitude regardless, we knew that it was crucial to bring home the three points today. The coach asked us to be aggressive and we managed it today. The points are what counts.“
