Roma Agree to Two Extensions, Zero In on Three Targets

Roma will lock up two of their own players before focusing on the January window. Gianluca Mancini and Ebrima Darboe will put pen-to-paper shortly, tying their future to the Giallorossi. The announcements will arrive later this week or in the next one, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Mancini has quickly become one of José Mourinho’s most trusted contributors. He has been by far their best defender so far. He forms the backbone of the team alongside Lorenzo Pellegrini and Bryan Cristante. Roma will bring his wages to €3M and add two more years to his contract, which will run through 2026.

Instead, Darboe has not entirely won over the coach yet, but his salary had yet to change since he was promoted to the first team. It will double to €400k. He has featured four times this season and ten total in the past two.

According to the Italian newspaper, Roma are focusing mainly on three names for the next window: Diogo Dalot, Marcos Senesi and Florian Grillitsch, who would address their biggest needs. Manchester United do not want to give up the fullback on a straight loan, though. Milan ran into the same issue over the summer.

The Giallorossi covet Borussia Moenchendgladbach’s Denis Zakaria. However, his agent appears to be steering him toward foreign clubs or Juventus. The Hoffenheim midfielder also has an expiring contract and should be easier to acquire. Instead, the Feyenoord center-back has been on the radar of multiple Serie A sides in the recent past.
