Roma and Juventus Among Suitors of Real Betis Starlet

Roma and Juventus are both after another midfielder besides Khephren Thuram, as they are two of the sides tracking Real Betis talent Johnny Cardoso. They aren’t alone in that regard, as PSG, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund are also keen, Diario de Sevilla reports (via Tuttomercatoweb).

Los Verderones have already turned down an €18M bid from Galatasaray. The 22-year-old joined from Internacional for €6M last January. He has appeared 17 times since, scoring once and providing two assists. He has starred 13 times with the USMNT but also possesses an Italian passport. There’s an €80M release clause in his contract, which runs until 2029.

Roma and Juventus would need to invest €25/30M for Cardoso, which makes him a difficult target. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are eager to onboard a muscular and dynamic midfielder this summer. The top option would be Davide Frattesi if there were a chance to lure him away from Inter.

Per TuttoSport, the Old Lady is in pole position for Thuram. They are trying to sign him at an affordable price, €15/18M, given his contractual situation and desire to move to Italy, retracing in his father and brother’s footsteps. However, there’s not much traction concerning a swap with Arkadiusz Milik or Moise Kean for now, Fabrizio Romano relays (via SOSFanta).

Our Take on Cardoso, Juventus, and Roma

Both Serie A sides will bring in another man in the role, but they are probably just fodder in this case. The Bianconeri seem to have clear ideas, while the capital club appears to be on the lookout for the right opportunity cost and quality-wise.
