Roma and Mourinho Could Be Headed for a Natural Divorce

Roma and José Mourinho started the season in a contractual limbo, as the gaffer’s deal runs out in June 2024. There are no ongoing negotiations to extend it at this stage. The Special One will likely depart naturally at the end of the campaign, Gianluca Di Marzio informs (via SOSFanta).

Saudi Arabia pursued him last summer and continues to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he’ll give in to their courtship or wait for a top European team once he leaves the Giallorossi.

Mourinho might not be the only one on his way out of Roma. The contract of sporting director Tiago Pinto is also up on the same date. The two joined together two years ago.

The Special One hinted at a future in Sauri Arabia in a recent interview on Elhekayashow (via Sky TG24).

“I will work there someday. I’m focused on Roma, and I’ll give everything until my last day here. Nobody knows the future, but it’s something I’ll do for sure.”

Our Take on Roma and Mourinho

The fact that the parties haven’t even started tackling the matter is a big hint of what may happen. The closer they get to the expiry date, the louder the outside interest will become. On the other hand, the early clarity would give the ownership time and resources to go after a high-profile replacement.
