Roma and Mourinho Going All-In on Manchester United Fullback

Roma have identified Diogo Dalot as the ideal target to bolster their defense. He would be able to play on either flank and is already familiar with Serie A. Moreover, José Mourinho is a big fan of the Portuguese fullback. But the Giallorossi need a domino to fall to acquire him, Calciomercato.com reports.

The Red Devils are not opposed to his departure under the right terms and circumstances. Dalot has already accepted the destination. On the other hand, the English club wants to secure a proper replacement before letting him go. They are chasing after Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier.

The negotiation will not be easy, but Roma are optimistic about their chances. The two sides agree on a €15M evaluation, but they need to iron out the formula. The Giallorossi prefer a loan with option to buy, United an obligation. They may eventually arrange some conditions that would automatically make the deal permanent if met.

Dalot has played in just 6 matches so far, featuring for a total of 83 minutes in the Premier League. Instead, he notched 33 appearances with Milan in the past season despite a backup role. The Rossoneri tried to get him back, but they could not reach an agreement.

The Giallorossi will make an extensive effort to sign the 22-year-old before evaluating the alternatives. Bartosz Bereszynski would be the top candidate in that respect. Sampdoria have shown interest in a few Roma youngsters, and it would not be too difficult to come to terms, Corriere dello Sport reports.
