Roma and PSG Look to Clear Final Hurdle for Wijnaldum

Georginio Wijnaldum is inching closer to a move to Roma, but the negotiation with PSG is still ongoing. The two clubs need to come to terms primarily on how to split his large wages. The French side would like the buyer to pay it fully, while the Giallorossi disagree, Corriere dello Sport informs.

Instead, the parties have agreed on the formula. It will be a loan, with no initial fee and a conditioned obligation to buy. It would automatically turn into a permanent deal if the Italian side qualified for the Champions League and the midfielder featured in half of the matches next season.

Wijnaldum told Roma and PSG, through his agent, that he is willing to give up €1M to facilitate the deal. Still, the Ligue 1 giants are not keen on massively contributing to his salary. The player is eager to join to play with consistency to make the Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

As per Il Tempo (via Fanpage), the former Liverpool star would be owed a €3M bonus should he still be in Paris past July 31st. The two clubs are discussing such aspect too, which might speed things up despite the obstacles. Both teams will be in Israel later this week.

Our Take on the Talks Between PSG and Roma for Wijnaldum

The Dutchman reportedly earns €9M including add-ons, and so it isn’t a small hindrance, but the two sides have already overcome major obstacles. More importantly, he is pushing for the transfer. An agreement is most likely forthcoming. If José Mourinho managed to lift him back to his Reds levels, it would be another masterstroke for the Giallorossi.
