Roma and Tottenham Battling for Talented Norwich Fullback

On top of a midfielder, Roma will try to add a right-back in January. They have been in trouble this season when Rick Karsdorp was not available. The Giallorossi have been pursuing Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot. However, the hiring of Ralf Rangnick might change his future, as he could stay put now.

Roma have been offered some veterans but prefer bringing in a player with potential, Corriere dello Sport reports. In that respect, they have shortlisted Max Aarons, who has been faring well at Norwich for a few years. The Giallorossi are very keen on him, but they are not alone. Moreover, they can offer at most a loan with option to buy, which puts them at a disadvantage.

Tottenham are pursuing the 21-year-old too, alongside other English sides. The Canaries have slapped a €22M price tag on him, which might be too high for Roma. The Spurs are currently ahead in the race. Between Premier League and Championship, Aarons accumulated 145 appearances with Norwich, scoring 5 goals and providing 14 assists.

Roma are also keeping tabs RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Henrichs. He has fallen out of favor this season and would be a cheaper target. Udinese proposed Jens Stryger Larsen, who has been frozen out recently since he turned down an extension multiple times. The Giallorossi held some talks for Bartosz Bereszynski, but the legal troubles of the Sampdoria president threw a wrench in the negotiation. They will consider low-end options from Serie A only if they miss out on their top objectives.
