Roma and Tottenham Eyeing Moenchengladbach Defender

Roma and Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Nico Elvedi, who’s been solid throughout his Borussia Moenchengladbach run in recent seasons. His contract runs out in 2024. He has turned down the opening proposals to extend it, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

If things don’t change in the next couple of months, the German side will consider putting him up for sale in the summer. They’d look to avoid what happened with Marcus Thuram. The Frenchman will depart on a free in a couple of months.

Roma and Tottenham are highly interested in luring Elvedi, the transfer market adds. On the other hand, his valuation is robust despite the situation. Moenchengladbach will likely ask €15/20M to part ways with him.

The 26-year-old has been in Germany since 2015 and has racked up 258 appearances with his current outfit, scoring 14 goals and providing 9 assists. He has accumulated 43 caps with Switzerland.

Our Take on Roma and Elvedi

It’d be an intriguing target since he’s perfect for a back-three, given his versatility and characteristics. The Giallorfinally finally signed a defender to round out their corps in January, Diego Llorente, but he has barely played so far. It’s improbable they’ll activate an €18M option for a veteran.

Their plans are up in the air, but since he’s always a little shaky but figures to have a sizeable price tag, they wouldn’t be wrong in cashing in on Roger Ibanez and replacing him with a cheaper but more reliable option. On the other hand, it’d be tough for them to outbid Tottenham if they were really keen too.
