Roma Announce to Have Acquired Soulé from Juventus

Matias Soulé was welcomed in grand style by the Roma faithful at the airport on Sunday night and completed the formalities and put pen to paper on Monday. The winger joins from Juventus in a €25,6M move plus €4M add-ons, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The Bianconeri will also have a ten percent resale clause. However, they likely had to settle for less than they could have gotten from other teams because the winger put his foot down to move to the Giallorossi. Leicester City tendered a similar bid, while West Ham inquired.

Soulé has signed a five-year contract with Roma and will earn €2M annually. He’s their second major deal after Enzo Le Fée. They have also signed deputy goalie Mathew Ryan on a free and fullback Samuel Dahl from Djurgarden for €4M.

The youngster was convinced by Daniele De Rossi and his compatriots Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes. He scored 11 goals, including 5 penalty kicks, and dished 3 assists in 36 games with Frosinone last season. The Old Lady acquired him from Velez for €2.5M back in 2020. He played 21 times with them, hitting the net once, after going through their youth teams.

Our Take on Roma and Soulé

The only reservations are tactical, but it won’t be too hard for their coach to find a way to make everybody coexist with some small adjustments to last season’s go-to scheme. The Bianconeri took the ‘plusvalenza’ over the player and better nail the replacement, ideally spending less, and conclude their priority chases, or it’d be counter-intuitive and not the best look.
