Roma Assessing Opportunity to Onboard Atalanta Striker

Roma and Atalanta discussed multiple names in a recent wide-ranging meeting, where the Giallorossi expressed interest in Luis Muriel. They are eyeing Mario Pasalic as well, while La Dea is keen mainly on Stephan El Shaarawy.

According to Goal, the capital side is seeking a reliable striker that could either deputize Tammy Abraham or play next to him. The Colombian international has often been a bench player with the Orobici. He might have more room with La Lupa, especially if Nicolò Zaniolo departed.

Muriel would be a less expensive target than most of the others recently linked to Roma. On top of the possibility of arranging a swap that would allow them to save on the fee, his wages are relatively low, around €2M. He has just one year on his contract with the Nerazzurri. Instead, El Shaarawy’s salary is an issue for the counterparty. Gian Piero Gasperini allowed him to debut when he was very young while helming Genoa.

The Giallorossi also requested Mario Pasalic. He is open to transferring because his role is inconsistent, Corriere di Bergamo reports. However, the coaching staff and the management desire to keep him. It would take a sizeable offer to convince them to give him up. José Mourinho already managed the midfielder at Chelsea.

Our Take on Roma Eyeing Muriel

Given his ability to wreck games as a super-sub, versatility, class, and the affordable investment to sign him, he would be an ideal addition for any team looking for a backup striker. The only problem would be to keep him fit and especially motivated, but that probably would not be an issue for the Special One.
