Roma Boss Jose Mourinho Wants Andrea Belotti

Roma boss Jose Mourinho is going rampant this summer as he looks to add another top-class piece to his squad amid Georginio Wijnaldum talks. As per Calciomercato, the Portuguese manager has requested the signing of Andrea Belotti to bolster his attacking options.

While working on striking a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Wijnaldum, Mourinho is piecing together a plan to add to his firepower. Despite landing Paulo Dybala on a free transfer, the Roma boss wants to have another marquee forward at his disposal next term.

Belotti, who called time on his seven-year stint at Torino this summer, has ended up on Mourinho’s shortlist. Despite being wanted by several Premier League sides, the 28-year-old would like to stay in his homeland, giving Roma the upper hand over English sides.

Before completing the acquisition of Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo, West Ham United looked hellbent on signing Belotti. But they have now turned their attention towards other priorities, paving the way for Roma to swoop in and take Il Gallo to the Stadio Olimpico.

Yet, there is a catch. Roma will first have to offload Eldor Shomurodov or Felix Afena-Gyan to make room for Belotti’s arrival. Since Mourinho since the latter as the one for the future, the Giallorossi are ready to part company with the Uzbekistan international.

Heavily linked with a move to Torino, Shomurodov has yet to make up his mind about his future. Staying at Roma would see him pinned to the bench in favour of Tammy Abraham. After selling Gleison Bremer to Juventus, the Granata have the economic capacity to pull off the deal with Roma.

In addition to Torino, Bologna are also interested in rescuing Shomurodov from his misery at Roma. The ex-Genoa man’s departure for either side could unlock the deal for Belotti, with Mourinho waiting in the wings.
