Roma quickly patched things up with the City after a short-lived controversy relative to their sponsorship deal with Riyadh Season. The Italian Capital is competing with Saudi Arabia to host Expo 2030. CEO Livia Souloukou met with Mayor Roberto Gualtieri at the Giuseppe Colatucci award on Tuesday.
The exec dished on his experience at the team and José Mourinho to Corriere dello Sport.
“We work well with him, and the results have been good. It’s all going swimmingly at Roma. Experiencing the passion of the fans from up close is really nice and also creates a sense of responsibility that’s a motivation to do well. It’s a wonderful city. Since we sat next to each other, it means that we can build the new stadium,” Souloukou joked.
Gualtieri weighed in on the lengthy process.
“It was positive to involve the citizens in the public debate. It made the strength of the project and the validity of the makeup of a major private investment emerge. It’ll regenerate a part of the city that’s desert. It’s an important operation for the fans but also the town.”
The current phase will end in a few days, on October 30th. The summary of all the meetings will provide some concepts to potentially improve the project and inform the choice of the body that has to greenlight it.
