Roma Confident of Snapping Up Ligue 1 Midfielder

Serie A titans Roma are growing confident of signing Enzo Le Fee from Rennes in the coming days despite falling short of the French’s side asking price. According to Sky Italia via TMW, talks between the parties are ongoing, with the Italians trying to bridge the gap between supply and demand.

Rennes paid Lorient €20 million to sign the 24-year-old midfielder last summer. Therefore, it’s unsurprising they’re reluctant to let Roma take him for €15m. Les Rennais want to recoup their investment and are unwilling to give the Giallorossi a discount.

After seeing their opening bid come a cropper, Roma have intensified talks with Rennes, buoyed by the player’s desire to join forces with Daniele De Rossi’s team. Le Fee has reportedly put a significant amount of pressure on the club to sanction his switch to the Stadio Olimpico.

With Renato Sanches heading back to Paris Saint-Germain and Houssem Aouar underperforming in his first season in Rome, De Rossi wants a new midfielder. Le Fee ticks all the boxes for the type of player he’s keen to recruit.

He’s not a prolific player by any stretch of the imagination. Last season, he failed to score in all 25 league appearances for Rennes. However, Roma would benefit from Le Fee’s aggressive style of play and sharp passing.

There’s no doubt he’d be a massive upgrade on Bryan Cristante. Roma often lacked creativity in the engine room last term. Le Fee could offer a solution, especially if De Rossi partners him up with Lorenzo Pellegrini.
