Roma Confirm Afena-Gyan Tests Positive for Covid-19

Roma have confirmed that forward Felix Afena-Gyan has tested positive for Covid-19.

A statement on the Giallorossi‘s official website read: “The club can confirm that, following the latest round of molecular testing involving the first team squad, forward Felix Afena-Gyan has returned a positive test for COVID-19.

“The relevant health authorities have immediately been informed. The player, who has been vaccinated, is doing fine and has now begun isolating at home.”

Afena-Gyan made quite a name for himself during Roma’s away fixture against Genoa as he came on as a substitute and scored a brace to win the match. The Ghanaian thus became the first 2003-born player to score in Serie A.

Afena-Gyan has been quite impressive for Roma’s U-19 team and he could have been quite a useful substitute for Jose Mourinho. Hence, his absence is not something the club will like.

We all hope the youngster recovers from Covid and returns to action as soon as possible.
