Roma Director Discusses Dybala, Abraham, and Zaniolo

Chief Tiago Pinto touched on Nicolò Zaniolo, Tammy Abraham, and a few more Roma-related topics in the second half of his chat with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I agree with José Mourinho, we need another center-back. We should have five. However, any addition depends on a corresponding departure.”

“There are always high expectations on Abraham. Even when he does well, they say he should do more. It’s a product of his high value. He’s a top-notch player and a goal poacher. He didn’t score a lot in the first few months of last season, but he eventually did it 27 times. He knows he has to do a lot better from here on out. He’s key to us. I don’t think he was affected by the arrival of Paulo Dybala, who assisted him a few times and makes everybody around him better.”

The director acknowledged the talks to extend Zaniolo’s contract.

“We aren’t in a rush, as his agent Claudio Vigorelli stated. We’ll focus on matches. The conversations with him and his entourage have been positive. There will be other opportunities to discuss. Ultimately, I don’t think there will be any problem.”

“Ola Solbakken has done very well in the European competition. He’s 24 and is a regular for Norway. We insistently pursued him and had to outduel strong competition to sign him.”

Tiago Pinto closed with some remarks about Dybala.

“He’s happy here, he needed to feel important and he has that at Roma. He’s very comfortable in the locker room, and with the coach, the city, and the fans. We don’t fear this club might not be enough for him. He’ll help us get to the level we want to reach.”
