Roma Closing In on Frattesi Despite ‘Distance’ in Valuation

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that the positive relationship between the Neroverdi and Roma could eventually help conclude the transfer of midfield starlet Davide Frattesi back to his boyhood club. The Rome-born center-half is edging closer each passing day.

Speaking to Sky (via SassuoloNews), Carnevali affirmed reports and gave the green light on the back of a rendezvous in Rimini with Giallorossi sporting director Tiago Pinto. However, he maintains that there is a gap between the two parties’ evaluations.

“Roma and Sassuolo have made great deals together in the past. There is great respect with the capital club, we have an excellent relationship with them. If there is a desire on the part of Roma to buy Frattesi, that’s great. But we also consider him a young man with great potential. We assigned a specific value to him and there is still some distance.”

Sassuolo have lowered their demands in recent weeks, now asking for €25-30M and a player in a potential swap deal. Edoardo Bove or Cristian Volpato seem likely candidates to switch jerseys.

“We talked about some of the younger players and Roma have many talented ones that could be important for us. We’ll see what happens. Selling Frattesi is not a necessity.”

The 22-year-old reportedly called up his idol and Roma legend Daniele De Rossi regarding the potential of taking up his number 16 jersey when he moves to the Stadio Olimpico.

Our Take on Frattesi’s Potential Homecoming

It only looks like a matter of time before a deal is executed between the two clubs for Frattesi. The young midfielder has already made his intentions of returning known, and amid all fingers pointing to the Stadio Olimpico, the next meeting between Carnevali and Pinto will be instrumental.
