Roma Evaluate Young Duo to Address Right-Back Role

Roma have a hole on the right side of their defense and have shortlisted two talents in the early stages of the window, Almeria’s Marc Pubill and Toulouse’s Warren Kamanzi. Rasmus Kristensen wasn’t confirmed following a loan spell from Leeds United. In addition, they have decided to freeze out Rick Karsdorp ahead of his exit. He’s been practicing on the side at the start of their pre-season preparation, Sky reports.

That leaves Zeki Celik as the lone option for the role. They were linked to Raoul Bellanova later on, but Torino might want to keep their other centerpieces after selling Alessandro Buongiorno. They eyed Guéla Doué as well, but they are about to formally sign Enzo Le Fée from Rennes.

At this stage, Roma are down to Pubill and Kamanzi. The former scored once and tallied 3 assists in 23 La Liga matches in the past campaign. He played for Levante before Almeria signed him for €5M last year.

Instead, the Norwegian talent transferred to France in January 2023 from Tromso for €600k. He has set up 4 teammates in 48 appearances with Toulouse. He has three caps with the U-21 national team.

It has been a sore spot for a few years and Celik is shaky too, so they need a surefire contributor. However, it looks like they’ll go young as they have already partially emptied the clip on their first summer addition and will use the rest of the budget for a winger and a striker, which is somewhat understandable.
