Roma Eyeing Spezia Star, Abraham Talks Chelsea Return

Roma have set their sights on M’Bala Nzola as they’ll have to reshape their attack next summer. Their frontline hasn’t been prolific this season. In addition, a few of its members face an uncertain future due to their contracts and interest in their services.

According to Calciomercato, Andrea Belotti, who leapfrogged Tammy Abraham in the hierarchy as he started the last two Serie A matches, is not a lock to stay. The club has an option to extend his contract. If they don’t pick it up, he’ll be a free agent in the summer. He’ll have to prove his worth in the remaining matches. He has yet to score in league play with the Giallorossi. Stephan El Shaarawy has an expiring deal too.

Nzola could also be a potential replacement for Abraham, whom Roma might sell both for financial reasons. The Englishman was quizzed about a possible return to Chelsa by FourFourTwo (via SportsSkeeda)

“In football never say never. Right now, my goal and my attention is focused on Roma. We want to finish the season strong. I still haven’t started thinking about anything other than being here and doing my best. I’m not in a hurry. Maybe I’ll stay for the next ten years, or maybe not. You never know what’s around the corner.”

Spezia have set an €18M price tag for Nzola, but Roma could offer Eldor Shomurodov, who just moved there on loan, to sweeten the pot and reduce the fee. The center-forward extended his contract in recent months, but just by one year, so it’ll run out in 2024.
