Roma Facing Major Difficulties in Pursuits of PSG and Chelsea Strikers

With Edin Dzeko likely headed to Inter, Roma need a new center-forward. Sardar Azmoun is not the only candidate, but the other targets are complicated to get and expensive. At this stage, Tammy Abraham and Alexander Isak sit atop the list, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. Instead, the arrival of Mauro Icardi is improbable. He wants to stay at PSG despite the competition and has sky-high wages.

Arsenal are also pursuing the Chelsea striker, although they need to sell somebody up front before finalizing the purchase. The 23-year-old Englishman has the Gunners as his preferred choice and rejected a move to Atalanta. The Bergamaschi inquired about him as a possible replacement for Duvan Zapata, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Abraham has a €40M price tag and might give Roma the same answer.

Isak recently signed a new contract, which includes a €70M release clause. It would take a mammoth investment to buy him, and Real Sociedad always tend to drive a hard bargain. The same goes for Dusan Vlahovic, whose evaluation exceeds the Giallorossi‘s budget.

The alternative options for Roma are strikers that have been available on the market for some time. Andrea Belotti is struggling to come to terms on the extension, but Torino would not let him go for cheap anyway. Sassuolo want €35M to sell Gianluca Scamacca. He has the same agent of Dzeko, which might facilitate the deal. Finally, they have been offered Benfica’s Haris Seferovic and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic by their agents, Gazzetta indicates.
