Roma Hold Exploratory Talks with Wantaway Juventus Winger

Roma chief Lina Souloukou and new director of sport Florent Ghisolfi reportedly met Federico Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani, on Tuesday to discuss a potential transfer to the Stadio Olimpico. Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio claims the parties held exploratory talks amid Napoli’s quest to lure the Italy international south.

Chiesa’s career at Juventus is drawing to a close after incoming manager Thiago Motta deemed him surplus to requirements. Despite his troubles in Turin, the 26-year-old remains one of the most sought-after wingers in Serie A. Before Bayern Munich, Roma, Napoli, Milan, and Liverpool had inquired about the ex-Fiorentina man.

However, Roma will fancy their chances in this elite transfer race. Daniele De Rossi admires Chiesa and sees him as an ideal reinforcement for either wing. Last season, the Giallorossi heavily relied on Paulo Dybala to handle the creative burden. Barring occasional flashes of quality, Stephan El Shaarawy and Tommaso Baldanzi failed to live up to the billing.

Worryingly for Roma, Inter’s long-standing interest in Dybala could soon return to fashion. The reigning Serie A champions failed to capture the Argentine’s signature in 2022 but could launch a new assault this summer.

Dybala’s potential exit would be a devastating blow for Roma. He was De Rossi’s most trusted forward last season. And his departure would only intensify the club’s need for a player of Chiesa’s stature. Let’s see if they can come out on top of this mouth-watering transfer tug-of-war.
