Roma ‘Pushing’ for Denis Zakaria Alternative

Roma’s long-time midfield target Denis Zakaria’s move to the capital club seems to be in major doubt, after it was revealed that the Giallorossi are not the only club in pursuit for the Borussia Monchengladbach ace’s services.

In recent weeks, Liverpool have emerged as the most potent contender for his signature, but Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are not far behind.

The recent developments have shifted Roma’s attention to Hoffenheim’s Austrian midfielder Florian Grillitsch.

According to recent reports from Italy and TUTTOmercatoweb in particular, general manager Tiago Pinto is ‘pushing’ to get the 26-year-old versatile central midfelder in a bid to reinforce Jose Mourinho’s midfield prowess.

With Grillitsch’s contract expiring in June 2022, he could arrive on a free transfer, and his relatively low salary makes him a perfect alternative to Zakaria.

There are two other names also mentioned as Roma possible targets – Bayern Munich duo Marc Roca and Corentin Tolisso, with the former being touted for a loan move, as opposed to the latter who is ‘difficult for reasons of cost’.
