Roma In Talks With Household PSG Forward Over Summer Move

Mauro Icardi’s wife-agent, Wanda Nara, is in talks with Roma over her husband’s potential move from Paris Saint-Germain. According to shocking claims from La Reppublica, the Argentine could seal a deal with the Giallorossi on the back of Jose Mourinho’s appointment.

The Portuguese manager, who took over the managerial reins from Paulo Fonseca this summer, harbors a long-term interest in Icardi. Mourinho wants to add a household striker to the squad in the summer as Roma hope to recover from last season’s underwhelming seventh-place finish.

Icardi’s name features Mourinho’s shortlist close to the top, with Nara reaching out to the Giallorossi powerbrokers to broker the deal. Though the 28-year-old’s arrival at the Stadio Olimpico looked like sci-fi only a few months back, the Special One’s interference seems to have tipped the scales in Roma’s favor.

Icardi has reportedly grown frustrated with his bit-part role in Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics and wants to return to Serie A. The highly-rated marksman spent the most successful stage of his career in Serie A, where he captained Inter and earned worldwide recognition for his striking abilities.

Juventus have also emerged as potential suitors for the ex-La Masia graduate, but Roma have now overtaken the Bianconeri in the race to sign the PSG star. Yet, Icardi’s rumored switch to Rome could pave the way for Edin Dzeko’s long-anticipated move to Turin.

Massimiliano Allegri is in the market for an out-and-out striker to partner with Cristiano Ronaldo next term. Alvaro Morata has shown glimpses of his brilliance, but his dreadful finishing has forced Juventus to dive into the market pool.

Dzeko has been linked with a move to the Allianz Stadium on multiple occasions in the past. The 35-year-old is a proven Serie A striker. Despite being in the autumn of his career, the Bosnian could be a perfect short-term solution to Juventus’ attacking woes.
