Roma Inquire About Productive Villarreal Center-Forward

Roma are searching for a striker and have laid eyes on one of the most prolific ones across Europe last season, Villarreal’s Alex Sorloth. Their opening offer fell short of the request, but the talks will continue in the next few weeks, Relevo reports.

El Submarino Amarillo is accustomed to making one big sale every summer for economic reasons. The Norwegian striker is one of the candidates. They paid €10M to sign him from RB Leipzig a year ago. He tallied 26 goals and 6 assists in 41 games across all competitions in 2023/2024.

Villarreal want Roma and the other suitors to table a bid close to the €38M release clause present in the Sorloth contract. They aren’t hell-bent on its activation, though. The first proposal by the Giallorossi was low, but there’ll be further discussions. Other players could be involved in the deal.

The striker recently declared that he wasn’t necessarily going to depart.

“I don’t want to leave even if we won’t play in Europe. Playing time and continuity in one place are the most important things to me and my wife. I love living in Valencia and its weather.”

The journeyman has circled through teams throughout his career, rarely spending consecutive seasons at the same club.

Our Take on Roma and Sorloth

He’d be a sound target, but their offensive moves will kick off concretely only after they parted ways with Tammy Abraham, if they somehow managed to cash in on him adequately.
