Roma Interested in Genoa Sensation to Add Depth to Their Frontline

Roma have added a new name to the list of potential offensive reinforcements. CEO Tiago Pinto has inquired with Genoa about the availability of Eldor Shomurodov. The 26-year-old forward has scored 8 goals in his first Serie A. The Giallorossi like him a lot because of his versatility, Il Tempo reports.

The Uzbek would be able to play either as no.9 or in a supporting role, or even on the wings. Differently from other strikers, Roma think Shomurodov would be compatible with Edin Dzeko. So far, they have received zero offers for the Bosnian veteran, who is likely to stay put.

Genoa have slapped a €15M price tag on their player, twice as much they paid to get him from Rostov last season. They also ask for a percentage of a future sale. The two sides could easily arrange the deal with an initial loan with option or obligation to buy.

Instead, it is more challenging to insert Pedro in the package. The Grifone touched base with him, but he is not enthusiastic about the destination. Roma want to offload his salary fully, but it is too expensive for Genoa, the newspaper adds.

Shomurodov has already met Mourinho in February of 2018, as his agent is close with the Portuguese gaffer. The attacker would easily agree to the move. He was asked about his future a few days ago: “Roma? Honestly, I do not know anything about their interest. Juventus? I am glad they are after me; it would be nice to take the next step of my career there.”
