Roma Interested in Two Bayern Munich Fringe Midfielders

The Roma search for a new midfielder has taken them to Bavaria. The Giallorossi have laid their eyes on Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca, who are not getting many minutes at Bayern. The Frenchman is on an expiring contract.

According to Il Messaggero, Tolisso would fit the bill of what José Mourinho is looking for to bolster the squad. He is poised to leave the German powerhouse, either in January or next June. He has played just 400 minutes so far, starting in 5 matches.

On top of the competition, his large salary is the main hurdle for Roma. Tolisso currently earns €6.5M per season. However, the Italian side would significantly save on taxes if he agreed to a three-year contract thanks to a fiscal advantages when signing foreigners. Inter and Juventus are rumored to be after the 27-year-old for a potential Bosman move.

On top of the French international, Roma have set their sights also on Roca, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays. Bayern acquired from Espanyol a year ago for €9M. He has been a fringe contributor so far, logging just 12 appearances since joining.

The Giallorossi have cast a wide net to find a new reliable option in the role. They missed out on Granit Xhaka in the summer. In the end, they might add somebody out of the blue, as they did when they hired José Mourinho, the newspaper suggests. Roma have been eyeing in particular the Bundesliga landscape. They are tracking Borussia Moenchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria and Hoffenheim’s Florian Grillitsch too.
